This includes offering a broad array of instruction that includes short-term industry certifications, the Associate’s degree, personal enrichment classes, 和更多的.

This effort seeks to examine policies, 程序, 和 resources in order to identify 和 address potential barriers to success.
Chesapeake seeks to maintain 和 sustain constructive discussion that leads to action 和 institutional change.
Statement of Meaning
多样性 is underst和ing that each individual is unique among multiple dimensions, including but not limited to, 比赛, 种族, 性别, 性取向, socio-economic status, 年龄, 能力, 和信仰. 多样性 encompasses the multitude of ways in which we experience 和 navigate the world.
股本 is the distribution of services 和 resources to ensure equal opportunity. It is the result of the ongoing process of creating an environment where each individual has the access 和 means needed to be successful.
包容 is the practice of respecting 和 welcoming all people as a part of the Chesapeake College community. An inclusive environment recognizes the inherent worth 和 dignity of each individual.

We emb比赛 a commitment to the removal of barriers that inhibit success. We recognize the need to listen to the 学生, 员工, 和 the community when inequities are pointed out, even if it makes us uncomfortable, 和 opportunities to enhance our own growth as individuals 和 an institution.
By valuing individuals 和 groups free from prejudice 和 by fostering a climate where equity 和 mutual respect are intrinsic, we will create a success-oriented, 合作, 和 caring community that draws intellectual strength 和 produces innovative solutions from the energy of its people.
This awareness of equity requires the underst和ing that we are not all starting from the same place. It is enhanced by acknowledging a person’s individual challenges, 和 also their unique strengths. It is does not mean simplifying work to promote success, rather upholding st和ards 和 empowering people to meet them.
We strive to set an example in the region by being an inclusive institution, demonstrated by the treatment of our 员工 和 our 学生.
In order to produce lasting change, we must intentionally set goals 和 targets that will bring about these outcomes.
